When to go to the ER
- In Newborn Infants less than 3 months old if fever is 100.4 or higher rectally
- Chest pain
- Mental status change (sudden change in alertness, memory or confusion, or abnormal gait)
- Shortness of air
- Uncontrolled vomiting
- Fever of 104 or more in children
- Nosebleeds that do not stop with compression for 20 minutes
- Head injury with vomiting or mental status change
- Fall/injury with swelling to extremity
- If child needs immediate exam or treatment
- Abdominal pain (severe)
If you don't feel comfortable about how your child looks, go to the ER.
